   Why Is There Cosmetic Packaging?

Why must cosmetics be put into cosmetic containers? Not only do they protect products, but they also provide convenience to suppliers as well as consumers for a variety of reasons.

The main purpose of a Cosmetic Container is to protect the product while it is being stored or transported. Containers must be a well-thought-out solution that prevents product from spoiling and helps maintain its quality. As part of marketing a beauty product, it must also be a good looking container.

The container must also contain a label that clearly displays basic information about the product and the manufacturer. These labels include contact information, ingredients, expiration dates, warnings and directions. Labels not only identify a product and its origin, but also help consumers understand the product and avoid confusion or misleading.

   Cosmetic Packaging Materials

1. Plastic Bottles are usually made of PP, PE, K material, AS, ARS, acrylic, PET, PETG, PETE, etc.

2. Glass bottles are made of more than a dozen main raw materials such as quartz powder, limestone, soda ash, dolomite, feldspar, boric acid, barium sulfate, thenardite, zinc oxide, potassium carbonate, and cullet.

3. Hoses are divided into single-layer, double-layer, and five-layer hoses, which are different in terms of anti-pressure, anti-penetration and hand feeling. composition.

4. The main raw materials for paper: wood pulp logs and recycled paper products. The paper mainly includes white cardboard, glass card, gold card and silver card, pearl card, etc., and the more common one is white cardboard of 280-350 grams.

5. The vacuum bottle is composed of neutral glass (vacuum sterile), a non-toxic pipeline to fill the sterile filtered O2-O3 mixed gas, anti-oxidation rubber stopper and other main parts.

   Cosmetic Printing Process

1. UV printing, which is a printing process that dries and cures inks by ultraviolet light, requires the cooperation of inks containing photosensitizers and UV curing lamps. UV inks have covered offset printing, screen, inkjet, pad printing and other fields. UV generally refers to the printing effect process in the traditional printing industry. For example, a layer of varnish (bright, matte, mosaic, glitter, etc.) is applied on a printed pattern that you want, which can increase The brightness and artistic effect of the product protect the surface of the product. It has high hardness, corrosion resistance and friction, and is not prone to scratches.

2. Silk screen printing: There are usually two types of glass bottle silk screen printing, one is high temperature ink screen printing, which is characterized by not easy to decolorize, and the color tone is difficult to produce an effect, and the other is low temperature ink printing, which has brighter color and higher requirements for ink.

3. Offset printing, silk screen printing and gravure printing are mainly used for outer packaging. Because small plates can better grasp the operation of various processes, it is recommended to make printing impositions as small as possible. Generally, it is best to make 4-6 styles on one plate, and try to make as much time as possible. Keep the texture, which is conducive to the best forming degree of the carton; in terms of printing colors, spot colors are mostly used, so that the color uniformity can be better grasped.

4. Embossing is a technology that uses finely carved micro-press plates to press out special textures on specific graphic or decorative parts. The micro-embossing process on the cosmetic packaging carton can not only produce the same effect as the hot stamping embossing, but also produce a three-dimensional effect in conjunction with the designed image.

5. Hot stamping is the most commonly used surface finishing process for cosmetic packaging cartons. The hot stamping process can be divided into ordinary hot stamping and holographic hot stamping according to the hot stamping material, and holographic hot stamping has three types: ordinary version holographic hot stamping, special version holographic hot stamping and special version positioning hot stamping. Hot stamping can not only create eye-catching brand value from the visual effect, but also technically cause differences in product grades, enhance product value, and has a certain anti-counterfeiting effect. In particular, the special version positioning hot stamping process requires cosmetics packaging carton suppliers to be equipped with high-performance, high-precision hot stamping equipment and master fine control technology.

6. Gold sweeping: At present, a gold sweeping process between hot stamping and gold printing is becoming the "new favorite" for cosmetic packaging cartons to enhance product visual effects and value. The gold sweeping process has the characteristics of fast speed, low cost and good effect. It can produce very ideal decorative effects regardless of the thickness of the graphic and the size of the area. In particular, the gold powder used in sweeping gold is colorful, including common gold, silver, green, and red gold, as well as elegant lemon yellow, tan, and peacock blue, as well as various custom-made special spot colors with special particle shapes. Gold powder is used to create a luxurious and elegant visual effect, making the surface finish jump from a two-dimensional plane to a three-dimensional three-dimensional.

Several New Packaging Materials For Cosmetics

1. Polylactic Acid

Polylactic acid ( PLA ) material has been widely used in food packaging and disposable tableware manufacturing. PLA material has good processability and biocompatibility, and is currently the main biodegradable packaging material for cosmetics. The PLA material has good rigidity and mechanical resistance, making it a good material for rigid cosmetic packaging.

2. Polyhydroxyalkanoate

Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) have attracted attention due to their high biodegradability in different environments. In fact, PHAs are processed in a wide variety of applications including packaging, molded articles, paper coatings, nonwovens, adhesives, films and performance additives. Produced by bacteria in the natural environment, PHA polymers can be processed into a variety of useful products, and their efficient biodegradability is especially suitable for single-use packaging.

3. Cellulose

Cellulose and its derivatives are the most commonly used polysaccharides used in packaging production and are the most abundant natural polymers on earth. Consists of glucose monomer units linked together by B-1,4 glycosidic bonds, which enable the cellulose chains to form strong interchain hydrogen bonds. Raw cellulose is highly hydrophilic and has poor barrier properties to moisture. Only multi-layer materials or composite materials can be used as packaging, so it is not suitable for packaging of perishable items. The relatively low thermal degradation of cellulose makes the crystalline structure of cellulose easy to become a brittle material), therefore, cellulose-based packaging is only suitable for the storage of non-hygroscopic dry cosmetics. Recent studies have found that using nanocellulose extracted from natural cellulose as a reinforcing component can greatly change the performance of composite materials even at a very low dosage. It can not only improve the mechanical and barrier properties of composite materials, but also has Biodegradable features.

4. Starch

Starch materials are polysaccharides composed of amylose and amylopectin, mainly derived from cereals, cassava and potatoes. In order to facilitate processing, starch is first mixed with other materials by plasticization or chemically modified by various methods. Commercially available starch-based materials consist of a mixture of starch and other polymers, such as polyvinyl alcohol or polycaprolactone. These starch-based thermoplastics have been used in a wide range of industrial applications for cosmetic packaging extrusion applications, injection molding, blow molding, film blowing and foaming. Since the material has very limited resistance to water or water vapor, the researchers observed in films made with wheat starch that water can still dissolve the starch portion of the mixture, so starch-based containers or films are only suitable for non-hygroscopic drying. cosmetic packaging.

5. Chitosan

Chitosan has potential as a biodegradable packaging material for cosmetics due to its antimicrobial activity. Chitosan is a cationic polysaccharide derived from the deacetylation of chitin, which is derived from crustacean shells or fungal hyphae. Chitosan is non-toxic, has good biodegradability, strong film-forming ability, and good anti-fungal and anti-oxidation properties. In addition, studies have also confirmed that chitosan films have good barrier properties to oxygen. Chitosan can be used as a coating on PLA films to produce flexible packaging that is both biodegradable and antioxidant.

Development Status Of Cosmetic Packaging Materials

In recent years, my country has paid more and more attention to environmental protection. The concept that green water and green mountains are golden mountains and silver mountains has penetrated into various industries. From the perspective of ecological environmental protection, cosmetic packaging materials should be more low-carbon and environmentally friendly, which can not only reduce costs, but also reduce At the same time, it is also a very wise choice for over-packaged products. Only by taking the road of protecting the ecological environment can the brand have the power of sustainable development.

Due to the rapid economic development, the national awareness of environmental protection has not kept up with the development of the economic level, and the concept of green packaging has not been fully accepted and understood, and the phenomenon of random discarding of packaging waste and waste of resources occurs from time to time. In addition, enterprises blindly pursue economic interests, excessively package and beautify products according to consumers' psychology, and do not recycle and reuse the packaging waste produced by them, and there is no perfect recycling network for these recyclable packaging waste for recycling. The development and application of low-carbon and environmentally friendly cosmetic packaging still has a long way to go. This is all because the current society has not formed a comprehensive concept of environmental protection.

   The Future of Cosmetic Packaging

At present, cosmetic packaging is mostly made of paper products and plastic products. The raw materials of the former are trees, and the raw materials of the latter are petrochemical products. Relatively speaking, paper packaging is easy to degrade, and plastic packaging will cause a lot of white pollution, and it is not easy to degrade after recycling. But papermaking can be remedied by "cutting down a tree and planting a tree", which will not reduce forest coverage. The conclusion is that paper packaging is more environmentally friendly. But the data show that this result does not hold. From the perspective of global forest coverage, Japan is about 67%, Germany is about 30%, the United States is about 33%, while China is only 16.5%.Europe, the United States and Japan have high forest coverage, small population, and high per capita forest coverage. Cutting down a tree and planting a tree will not affect the ecological environment. However, my country's forest coverage rate is low and the population base is large. The per capita forest area is 1.9 mu, which is only 1/5 of the world's per capita area. Compared with Europe, America and Japan, the supply of paper packaging is obviously less than the demand. In order to meet market demand, it is an inevitable result that the cutting rate is higher than the planting rate. "Cut down a tree and plant another tree will not reduce the forest coverage rate" has become a false proposition in our country where the climate is not acclimatized. It can be seen that although paper packaging is easy to degrade, it is not friendly in a sense. Therefore, strengthening the R&D and promotion of biomass materials, such as biodegradable materials PLA, PHA, PCL, PBS, PBAT, PPC, bio-based PE, bio-based PET and other new materials has become one of the future development directions of the cosmetic packaging industry.
